Cat and dog eat together

Cat and dog love to share their food

I do try and feed them separately as I have heard feeding cats dog food isn’t good.

Can anyone explain why this is so?

I give them mince occassionaly and they like to share and eat together

  1. Cats are “obligate carnivores” which means that without animal protein they die. More specifically, they have important needs re animal proteins and in particular certain amino acids from protein. Processed cat food contains adequate quantities of those amino acids, whereas processed dog food contains inadequate amounts for cats. If you are feeding a fresh meat diet then you are unlikely to have a problem. Let them enjoy sharing. Its lovely they want to.
